Door 100 kHz te gebruiken, kunnen we de impedantie verwijderen met de formule 1 \/ (2 * pi * F * C). De impedantie wordt klein, waardoor we de ware serie weerstand kunnen meten. Een slechte E-condensator heeft een grotere ESR en creëert meer rimpeling in plaats van het filteren van lawaai. Normaal gesproken is een grote condensator groter dan 3 Ohm.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMet deze theorie kunnen we meten of de condensator slecht of beschadigd is, of nog goed functioneert. Onze ESR-meter is alleen van toepassing op minder dan 15mV DC of piek-naar-piek op een goede condensator, waardoor we het kunnen gebruiken voor in-circuit testen. Door de lage testspanning kan de halfgeleider niet inschakelen tijdens het testen.
